Servant of GodAbout eight years ago my wife and I visited a D.I.Y. store in our town. God spoke to me and said clearly He wanted me to speak to a man in the store. I started looking as we were walking around and suddenly I knew that I was looking at the man I was to speak to.
As the man was with his wife I wondered how I could get him alone. They arrived at the checkout the same time as we did. When we got to our car to unload, I noticed his wife was taking the wheeled basket. I went up to him with the words God gave me. I said: "God has told me to give this message, the answer you are looking for is in the Gospel of John. He said: "what did you say? I repeated what I said before. He thanked me and I went back to our car and we went home.
If we are faithful God who is the Good Shepherd speaks to His sheep and gives us divine appointments. We do not know the results until we are in heaven. We are often a small cog in a big wheel and God has his people everywhere.
11th November Back to the Bible daily by disciple John
2Chronicles 22:2-3 Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’ name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri. He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother advised him to do wickedly.
King Ahaziah was 42 years old when he became king of Judah, the only surviving son of King Jehoram who we read about yesterday. Even at that age his mother had a great influence on his life, and encouraged him to be wicked. She herself it tells us, was a grand-daughter of King Omri of whom it says in 1Kings 16:25 That he was a very evil man.
Here we have three generations of evil people all of whom were condemned for their wickedness. It makes me wonder what influence each of us has on our relatives around us. We also have situations where parents interfere in the lives of their children, and children-in-law, and cause hostility which make a good influence difficult. When the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, he said this about a different kind of influence. 2Timothy 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
Here we have three generations who have something very special and that is a genuine faith. I'm sure that Lois influenced Eunice, who in turn influenced her son Timothy. I want my children and grand-children to remember me for my faith and trust in God, but also as a pleasant kind loving person.
Prayer: Thank you our heavenly Father for showing us the importance our influence is on those around us, that your will be done and your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ our lord. Amen
