Back to the Bible daily by disciple John
Lev 6:13
The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
Let us consider this text, which is a gem amongst the treasure of scripture. In Revelation 3:15 God is speaking to the Laodiceans church says they are neither hot or cold but lukewarm. We know that cold means unfriendly and lukewarm means apathetic, uninterested. To be hot means to be enthusiastic, zealous, keenly interested. I believe we have an altar within us because we are told our bodies are a temple of God and every temple has an altar.
We have got to keep the fire burning on that altar, and that comes from our own determination to keep going forward with God. If we allow ourselves to be discouraged then we are ignoring scripture where we are told continually not to be dismayed. That word means do not be disappointed and unhappy, which is how we feel when we are discouraged.
Next how to get the fire, and keep the fire on the altar? I will share the answer which I have learned over many years. I stand up get my Bible and read out loud either Ephesians, Galatians or Colossians with frequent “Hallelujahs”. I pace up and down as I read. When I finish reading after 15 to 20 minutes, I'm usually reassured and uplifted, if not I will repeat the reading until I know there has been a breakthrough and know the fire on my altar has been rekindled.
Prayer: Thank you Heavenly Father for reminding us to keep the fire burning, that your will be done and your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
