The Test That Reveals Character

MUCH TALK NO WORK

Why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and not do the things which I say?      (read: Luke 6:46-49)
An elderly man visited a church during a business meeting.  After a number of reports were presented,
the chairman of the evangelism committee stood and solemnly stated that there were 200 homes in their county without without a Bible.

There was a moment of silence, and then the elderly visitor rose and asked, "How did you obtain the information about these 200 families?   The chairman proudly reported that the committee had canvassed the area, filled out forms, and compiled all the data.
The old man then replied,  "There are at least 200 people in this meeting.   Each one could take a Bible to one family in less time than you are spending here listening to statistics and reports.   You are only playing
at religion.   It's all talk, only talk!"

Too many churches have become just religious clubs with committees, boards and programs, but are producing nothing.   If half the energy spent in talking about the program of the church could be channeled into spreading the gospel, countless thousands could be won for Christ.   Pious talk and lengthy resolutions cannot take the place of proclaiming the precious message of the grace of God.

Let's have less talk and more work!  .........MR De Haan MD

To the Work!  To the Work!  We are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our Master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,
Let us do with our might what our hands find to do...........Crosby.

AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE THERE IS FAR MORE SAID THAN DONE.

Luke 6:46  "Why are you so polite with me, always saying 'Yes, sir,' and 'That's right, sir,' but never doing a thing I tell you?
Luke 6:47  These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words to build a life on.
Luke 6:48  "If you work the words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who dug deep and laid the foundation of his house on bedrock. When the river burst its banks and crashed against the house, nothing could shake it; it was built to last.
Luke 6:49  But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don't work them into your life, you are like a dumb carpenter who built a house but skipped the foundation. When the swollen river came crashing in, it collapsed like a house of cards. It was a total loss."

 The Test That Reveals Character

Luke:6:39-49

Yes, it is true! Some day we shall be perfected. The long discipline will be over, and we shall be able to close our lesson books and go home. We shall then be found to be like Christ, our Lord. The promise of Luke_6:40 is very beautiful, though it sometimes seems far away.
We need to look at home first, before we essay to judge or condemn others. It is blundering waste to deal with other people’s eyes if you have a defect in yours. Colorblind men ought not to run trains. Speech betrayed men; what they say, that they are. The man who is quickest to judge and discuss the faults of another does so because of his own experience of the same sin. How else could he know so much about it?
The rock is not the Church, nor doctrine, nor even the Bible, but Christ, Isa_28:16.
You will only live a life of Faith and be victorious if you follow Jesus.  He will lead you along the way of submission to God's will,
and obedience to His Word.   Only in this way can your spirit, soul and body be kept under the Lordship of Jesus and influence of His
Holy Spirit.(John 6:38).
