Husbands must honour wives.

1st April Back to the Bible daily by disciple John
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
This text from 1 Peter 3:7 is telling husbands, that if they do not honour their wives, then their prayers may not be answered. The definition of honour in the Oxford English Dictionary, is to show high respect. We are also told to love our wives. For their part, wives are only told to love and obey their husbands.
How can we ensure that we are always showing our wives proper respect. Firstly, we avoid saying anything that is disrespectful, that means being charming, and encouraging, and appreciative of what they do. Next we must play our part in the home, by being considerate and helpful.
Although the Bible teaches that the husband is the stronger of the two, and is to be obeyed, that does not mean that the husband makes independent decisions. This is where loving the wife comes in, because there are no secrets in a real loving relationship, when both are open in sharing with each other.

Prayer: Thank you Lord our Father for this teaching about our married relationships. I pray with the help of the Holy Spirit that we men will always honour and love our wives, and they will love us according to your word to us, that your will be done, your kingdom, come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
